Mei-Ann Chen and the Recreation Orchestra remind us of the most famous love story of all time. Prokofiev and Bernstein breathe new life into Romeo and Juliet with immortal melodies and irrepressible rhythm.
Romeo and Juliet are the first famous lovers in the Recreation programme. The children of feuding families in late medieval Verona provided the inspiration for Russian composer Prokofiev’s most famous ballet and for American composer Bernstein’s new version set in Manhattan’s West Side gangland. Wild rhythm, immortal melodies, big-screen orchestral sound, with Mei-Ann Chen as brilliant director.
